Friendly Firefighters
National Fire Safety Council's Friendly Firefighter Program provides departments with a specific program of materials that explain the vital job members of local fire departments perform every day to help keep us safe. Departments will find the materials helpful in presenting programs to daycare facilities, pre-schools, and elementary schools.

General Fire Safety Materials
Learning about preventing fires is not exclusively for children. Adults can benefit from many of our materials. Parents who are aware of basic fire safety precautions can not only make life safe for themselves, they can pass that knowledge to their children by their example and instruction.

Holiday Safety
Fire safety doesn't take a holiday. It's important to remain aware of dangers during the holiday seasons. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, New Year's, the 4th of July, Halloween, Easter, or family birthdays, there is always a potential for fire and accidents or injury. These materials cover a wide range of safety precautions and common sense information for all ages that can help remind everyone how to keep a celebration from turning into a tragedy.
-
Manuals
NFSC's fire safety educational manuals are specially designed for all age groups. Each 24-page manual (8-page for preschool) is specifically geared for one age group. Puzzles, games, art projects, seek-and-finds, dot-to-dots, and secret-coded messages are incorporated to provide an interesting and educational approach to each topic.

Matches, Candles, and Lighters
These may be some of the most important topics to cover in fire safety. Teaching children to not play with matches, candles, and lighters can help prevent fires and a habit that can be devastating.

Seat Belt Safety
National Fire Safety Council, Inc. has developed materials which promote the use of seat belts for all ages. No matter what your size, infant, toddler, or adult, seat belt safety should be a part of daily living.

Smoke Alarm Safety
National Fire Safety Council, Inc. has developed a comprehensive program of educational materials addressing the single most important defense against fire -- smoke alarms. Although most adults and children are aware of this fact and 94% of all homes in the U.S. have at least one smoke alarm, there is still a need for educational programs. This is because surveys show that 1/3 - 1/2 of these smoke alarms do not work because the battery is either dead or missing. Adults and children can benefit from materials which address a wide variety of information concerning smoke alarms. Even though adults buy, install, and check smoke alarms, children can learn about smoke alarms and help remind adults what to do. The Council has specifically developed the character, "Smokee™" the Smoke Alarm to help Firepup® bring the rules of smoke alarm safety to younger children while making learning fun.

9-1-1 Materials
A selection of 9-1-1 emergency number safety awareness materials have been created by NFSC as a guide to help explain to children the emergency situations they may one day have to face with or without adult guidance. Children need to know what to do in an emergency situation.

Materials for Adults
National Fire Safety Council, Inc. has created a comprehensive selection of fire and life safety educational materials for adults of all ages.
A significant factor contributing to the cause and spread of fire is human error -- failure to recognize hazards and take the adequate preventive measures; failure to act intelligently at the outbreak of a fire; and failure to take action which would limit damage.
This selection of prevention materials is designed to provide current and authoritative information about common fire and burn hazards and life safety practices. Because safety practices may vary under different circumstances, concerned adults may wish to consult with local fire and public safety authorities for additional information.
